Refuse collection (general waste bins)
Please try and recycle as much as you can! Some items that are not accepted in your kerbside recycling bin, such as clothing and textiles, can still be recycled at one of the Household Recycling Centres. Remaining non-recyclable waste (household refuse) is incinerated to generate energy, which is fed back into the National Grid.

- If you overload your bin the crew will take the excess out, empty the bin and put the excess back in.
- Extra rubbish left on the ground will not be taken so please do not leave it out at all.
-
Extra rubbish

Purchasing new or additional bins
- As a householder, you are responsible for providing and maintaining your refuse and recycling bins, and for replacing them if worn out, damaged, vandalised, lost or stolen. This includes if your bin has broken during a collection because it has become brittle due to its age. This can become increasingly likely after the bin has reached 10 years old.
- If you need to replace a worn out, damaged, vandalised, lost or stolen bin, you should contact Biffa directly on 01962 670 706 to arrange for payment and delivery of the new bin. The current cost for a new bin is £38.18 including delivery.
- Note: Only one 240 litre refuse bin can be purchased per household, unless you are eligible for additional bins. There is no limit on the number of recycling bins a household may purchase.
- If your bin has been lost or damaged by the collection crew, please report this using this online form. If your case is approved you will get a free replacement.
- New residents will need to buy a bin if there are no containers at the property. If the house is a new build you will need to ask the builder if they will be purchasing containers. If not, you will need to purchase them yourself. Once again, you will need to contact Biffa directly on 01962 670 706 to arrange for payment and delivery of the new bin. The current cost of a bin is £36.94 including delivery. Only one 240 litre refuse bin can be purchased per household unless you are eligible for additional bins. There is no limit on the number of recycling bins a household may purchase.
- You may be eligible for additional refuse bins if there are 6 or more people living at your property or you have medical reasons. You can apply for an extra bin by completing this form. If your application is successful, you will be sent instructions about how to order your additional bin(s).
