Police and Crime Commissoner Elections for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police area
Police and Crime Commissioners were introduced in the 41 Police Authorities across England in 2012 and they are elected to make sure that local police meet the needs of the community. They are elected using the First Past the Post (FPTP) and Police Area Returning Officer (PARO) is appointed to conduct the elections across each area and declare the result.
The most recent election for the Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner took place on 6 May 2021
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police Area is made up of the 14 district and borough councils in the county, which have Local Returning Officers who are responsible for arranging and delivering the poll for the electors in their area. The number of votes counted in each local area are then collated by the PARO to provide the overall result. The PARO for the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Police Area is Mark Heath who is also the Local Returning Officer for the Southampton area.
The Police Area Returning Officer is responsible for dealing with candidates and agents, the conduct of the poll and collating the total result across the police authority area and declaring the result. The PARO must remain politically neutral at all times. For this reason, we cannot provide political campaign or information about the candidates on these pages.
For more information please see PARO (southampton.gov.uk)
Election notices will be available when published.
