The author Mitchell Symons is the speaker at the November meeting of the Hampshire Writers’ Society, on Tuesday, 14th November, at 7.30 p.m., in the Stripe Theatre Auditorium, University of Winchester. Mitchell specializes in writing about trivia and useless information, as testified to by some of his book-titles: 'That Book . . . of Perfectly Useless Information'; 'The Other Book of the Most Perfectly Useless Information'; 'The Bumper Book for the Loo'. He has been a researcher and director for BBC television, was a principal writer of early editions of the board-game 'Trivial Pursuit', and has won the Blue Peter Best Book Award – not once, but twice (in 2010 and 2011). In this talk he will reflect on opportunities to write about trivia in today’s publishing world and information economy. All are welcome to attend. Admission: £5 per person; free for members of the Hampshire Writers’ Society and for students. For membership of the Hampshire Writers’ Society (free for students), see the website below.
