Description

article thumb - Readers James King and Jane Harding with Tourist Guide Sue de Salis

We all know the real life Winchester. But what about the fictional one? A surprising number of writers have used Winchester as a setting for their books. Come on a walk with Winchester Tourist Guides and hear what has been said about the city in novels, poems and even a song or two. There is hardly a mention of Jane Austen, but plenty of other famous authors including Bernard Cornwell, Ellis Peters, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Ken Follett and John Betjeman. Not to mention some science fiction, a 1970s thriller and a Saxon chant.

Tickets from the Cathedral Box Office.
