Aims of The Course: Discover the power of your camera and learn how creativity can be surprisingly simple in this hands-on course. By covering the basics of digital photography and composition you will start enjoying your camera like never before and shoot images just the way you want to. Learning Goals: (by the end of the course you will be able to…) * Demonstrate how your camera works, including focus, menus, scene modes etc * Explain digital camera terms such as pixels, resolution, and digital zoom * Use aperture settings to blur the backgrounds of your pictures * Use shutter speeds to portray moving objects as sharp or blurry * Set ISO and white balance to capture optimum pictures in unusual lighting conditions * Demonstrate the principles of good composition * Describe file sizes and image quality About the Course: Suitable for complete beginners and those with some knowledge of their camera/digital photography. You will need: * A digital camera and compatible memory card and charged batteries * The instruction manual for your camera, if you have one. Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.

Transport

By Bus:The Park and Ride stops a few minutes walk away at the Southern end of Jewry St.
A bus stop is located right outside our main entrance - buses stopping there are, 1, 2, 4,5,6, 7,10,X24/25/26, 68, 86, 95/95A/96/96A, 99/X99.

By Train:Winchester Discovery Centre is a few minutes walk from Winchester station along City Road, then turn right into Jewry Street.
