Yes - provided that the works would be carried out in a `like for like` manner in all respects.  This means that the materials, finishes, and the building technique must match the existing fabric exactly. A similar material, finish or technique may require an application. For further advice, please contact the Historic Environment team.

If this is the case, then an application for Listed Building Consent would be necessary. You would need to demonstrate that the new materials would have a nominal impact on the buildings special interest and are of high quality and durability. 

This would depend on the level of work proposed.  For example, re-pointing/rebuilding a small section of a wall in a `like for like` manner would not need consent, however, should the structural integrity of the wall require new foundations or additional support, this would likely trigger the need for consent.

If the works are only affecting the top coat of thatch, do not affect the roof shape/roof form, and use matching materials, there is no need for consent. If the existing thatch is to be removed, or re-shaped, it would require Listed Building Consent. 

If already painted (such as painted brick or render) and the paint was the similar colour and type, it would not require Listed Building Consent. If it is unpainted, Listed Building Consent would be required.
