New outdoor gym at Somers Close, Winchester

A new outdoor gym in Stanmore is the perfect place to work off those Christmas mince pies. This new facility, which opened at Somers Close Recreation Ground just before Christmas, offers free outdoor fitness opportunities for local residents over the age thirteen.

The Winchester City Council Sports Team is offering free circuit sessions to learn how to use the resistance and cardio equipment. Sessions are every day during half-term week starting Monday 15 February 10am – 11am. If you can’t make half-term then there is another chance to book sessions after Easter.

Cllr Frank Pearson, Portfolio Holder for Environment, Health and Wellbeing, said

We are pleased Winchester has another outdoor gym with the added bonus of offering gym training sessions. We’re keen to encourage a healthy lifestyle for local residents so they can exercise for free at a time convenient with them.

In addition to the new gym, work is well underway nearby of a new a skate park due for completion in the Spring.
