Station Approach development a step closer
Development of the Station Approach area of Winchester has moved a step closer.
Winchester City Council’s Cabinet confirmed its commitment to the development of Station Approach at a meeting on Wednesday 8 June. Proposals would bring new offices, shops, homes, parking and public spaces.
Cabinet agreed in principle to ‘Bidder B’ from the recent competition being the preferred architect to take forward the Station Approach development. Appointment is subject to further advice on legal, financial and design parameters for varying the recommended option to meet issues and concerns raised.
The advice is due to be presented to Cabinet in July.
Cllr Stephen Godfrey, the Leader of Winchester City Council, said:
Cabinet is sending a clear message to Winchester businesses and residents that the Council is determined to deliver the economic benefits of this development and ensure that proposals are right for Winchester in terms of architecture and design.
The competition has produced an architect whom we believe can deliver an excellent scheme for Winchester. We now need to make sure that important suggestions for improvements can be accommodated before we move forward.
