Winchester District Local Plan Part 2 – Development Management and Site Allocations
The Council has today submitted its Local Plan Part 2 to the Government so that it can be examined by an independent Planning Inspector. This is a key stage in moving towards adoption of the Local Plan and providing greater certainty to both communities and the development industry as to where and what type of development is acceptable.
Local Plan Part 2 covers the allocation of smaller sites for development across the Winchester District (excluding the part that lies in the South Downs National Park), together with a suite of ‘development management’ policies which will be used to determine planning applications.
This stage of the Local Plan process is led by an independent Planning Inspector who will conduct hearings into the matters he/she wishes to explore, to determine whether or not the Plan is ‘sound’.

Details of dates and matters to be discussed at the examination hearings (expected in late June/early July), will also be posted on this website when these are known.
