New footbridge at Cripstead Lane in Winchester

A new footbridge will be installed at the end of Cripstead Lane in Winchester which leads to the water-meadows.

The existing structure has reached the end of its useful life and has been scheduled for replacement by Winchester City Council. This follows an inspection by bridge engineers from Hampshire County Council.

The £9,000 project will start on Monday 6 March and will take approximately five days. The area will be closed off during the work and there will be no access to the water-meadows from Cripstead Lane until it is completed.

Sarum Hardwoods of Stockbridge will remove the existing timber structure and install the new hardwood footbridge for the City Council.

Notices will be posted on the footbridge to advertise the forthcoming work and an explanatory letter will be delivered to residents of Cripstead Lane.
