New affordable houses get off the ground in Alresford and Stanmore
Councillors visited Alresford on Tuesday 14 March 2017 to mark the beginning of construction of 9 New Winchester City Council affordable homes at Mitford Road.
A second site of affordable homes in Bailey Close, Stanmore, is due to commence construction later in March 2017.
Cllr Caroline Horrill, the City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Housing, said:
I am delighted to announce that this month will see the start of two new valuable Council housing schemes at Mitford Road, New Alresford and Bailey Close, Stanmore. These schemes are the latest part of the City Council’s programme to deliver 300 much-needed new affordable homes designed to meet a range of community needs, across the district before 2020.
With 107 units on site and an additional 88 being prepared for planning, we are well on our way to achieve our ambitious target.
The new Council homes in New Alresford, consist of 6 x 1 bedroom flats, 2 x 2 bedroom homes and a 2 bedroom bungalow which can be easily adapted to suit a family with a disabled member. FE Chase & Son Ltd has been appointed as contractor for the scheme.
The new Council homes in Bailey Close, Winchester, include 5 x 1 bedroom flats. HA & DB Kitchin Ltd have been appointed as contractor for the scheme.
New affordable rented homes are allocated through Hampshire Home Choice.
