Have your say: New Parish Council for West of Waterlooville Major Development Area
Residents in Denmead and Southwick & Widley are to be consulted on new Parish Council arrangements for the Major Development Area (MDA) in the West of Waterlooville.
Following the strong support from residents in favour of setting up a new Parish Council for the West of Waterlooville MDA, Winchester City Council is now arranging a further phase of public consultation on the proposals.
Residents will be consulted on the new Parish Council’s format, precise boundaries and a name. Ideas about how the Council should be elected and organised will also be considered and the new Parish Council’s style (it could be a Parish, Town, Neighbourhood or Community Council) will be discussed.
Portfolio Holder for Democratic Services at Winchester City Council, Cllr Stephen Godfrey said:
We are delighted by the response of the local community. Winchester City Council has agreed to prepare and publish draft proposals to establish a new Parish Council and I encourage residents to have their say and be involved with the future governance of the West of Waterlooville Major Development Area.
Residents are also invited to two open events to discuss the emerging proposals with current community representatives and also find out how they can get involved in the new Council:
Saturday 17 March 2018, 10am – 2pm at Wellington Vale Care Home, Darnel Road, Waterlooville, PO7 7TY
Monday 19 March 2018, 5pm – 7.30pm at Berewood Primary School, Kentidge Way, Waterlooville, PO7 3BE
The West of Waterlooville MDA will provide 3,000 new homes, two primary schools and leisure, retail, employment and community facilities, with a good proportion of them already occupied.
