Chesil Lodge is an exciting and innovative development of 52 homes for people aged 55 and over with an existing or potential care need.  It is located on Chesil Street close to the heart of Winchester and features 44 one and two bedroom self-contained apartments for affordable rent, with six homes available for shared ownership and two outright sale apartments. Communal facilities will include a lounge area, restaurant, laundry and outside areas. A day care facility will be managed on site by Hampshire County Council. The majority of the flats will be for rent from the Council; with some shared ownership and open market flats also being available.

Key Steps/Milestones

Planning permision was granted in February 2015 - reference 14/02534/FUL.

Latest Status

The construction of the scheme, which is being undertaken by contractors Galliford Try, started on site on 11 April 2016. The Council has now taken handover of the scheme and the first occupants are expected to move in during June 2018.

 

Barfield Close will close to through traffic again from Tuesday 2 January 2018. A pedestrian footpath is being be maintained along Barfield Close however all vehicles will have to use Chesil Street as an alternative. Access to all premises south of the tunnel/ bridge will be maintained from Bar End Road.
