Household Waste Recycling Centres & Local Bring Sites
If you have excess waste or unwanted household items, Hampshire County Council operates four Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) in the Winchester district:
There are also a number of local 'bring sites' in the district, operated either by Winchester City Council or other organisations such as supermarkets. Types of materials accepted at 'bring sites' vary depending on location - many local bring sites will accept glass bottles and jars and some will accept other materials such as textiles and clothing, books, cardboard, tinfoil and batteries. There is also a carton recycling bank at the worthy lane recycling site.
More information about Hampshire County Council's HWRCs, as well as all bring sites operated by Winchester City Council, can be found below.

Changes to bring sites:
We have considered the capacity and distribution of our existing bring sites very carefully which has enabled us to make informed assessments about which sites can be removed and those that should be retained, following the introduction of kerbside collections, which should be sufficient to meet most residents’ glass recycling needs. The situation will be monitored and we have the option of increasing capacity at our remaining sites should the need arise. Private bring sites, such as those operated by some supermarkets, are not affected by these changes.
