Building Control Fees
The Building (Local Authority Charges) Regulations 2010 Regulations came into effect on 1 April 2010 replacing the Building (Local Authority Charges) Regulations 1998 (SI 1998/3129) (the 1998 Regulations). They authorise Local Authorities in England and Wales to fix and recover charges for the performance of their main building control functions relating to Building Regulations in a charging scheme governed by principles laid down in the Regulations.
Please note that that standard charges have been assessed on the basis that the building work does not consist of, or include, innovative or high risk construction techniques and the duration of the building work from commencement to completion does not exceed 12 months. They have also been set on the basis that the design and the building work is undertaken by a person or company that is competent to carry out the relevant work and that the Approved Documents have been used as guidance in achieving compliance with the Building Regulations.
If you are uncertain of the fee or for work that does not fall into the categories within the standard charges will be individually assessed, please email a description of your proposals together with floor plans and elevations to buildingcontrol@winchester.gov.uk for a quotation to be provided.
Payment of the deposit fee can be made with your online application submission, over the telephone with a credit or debit card (not American Express) or by cheque made payable to Winchester City Council. Any balance of the fee will be invoiced following the first site inspection, if you have the invoice number this can be paid by selecting General Invoices - Pay for it.
