Sustainability

Winchester City Council declared a Climate Emergency in 2019 and a Nature Emergency in 2023. The Council Plan places “tackling the climate emergency and creating a greener district” as the overarching priority and has set a target of being a carbon neutral district by 2030. see details here; https://www.winchester.gov.uk/climate-change-and-energy

Procurement has a part to play in this too and these requirements will be considered in procurement activities and will form part of the assessment of the supply chains. You can read more about how these aspects are considered during the planning stages in the council's Guide to Sustainable Procurement (see adjacent document), the Environmental and Social section of the Supplier's Guide, and also in the Procurement Strategy
