Climate Emergency

Climate Emergency

Winchester City Council declared a climate emergency in June 2019.

We made a commitment to go greener faster and become a carbon neutral local authority by 2024 and are forecast to achieve a 96% reduction in direct carbon emissions (since the baseline year of 2017/18) when the figures are published towards the end of 2025.

The short film below shows how we’ve achieved this significant reduction in our own emissions and how we plan to work towards achieving carbon neutrality across the whole district by 2030, by working with partners and community groups.
