Yes - provided that the dwellinghouse is not a listed building, the replacement of the windows and doors within their existing openings would not require planning permission.  However, the council would always encourage owners to retain the use of traditional design in order to ensure the continued character of the conservation area. In addition to this, the council would encourage the use of sustainable materials when replacing or repairing. Alternatively, it is encouraged to seek the advice of a traditional joiner or carpenter, as in many cases the windows can be repaired and retained and even upgraded to increase their thermal efficiency. 

Yes - provided that the dwellinghouse is not a listed building, there are no Article 4 directions in place on the property and that the solar PV array would not protrude more than 0.2 metres beyond the roof plan or would be sited on a wall fronting the highway.  Planning permission is generally required for any works which are ‘development’. Yes - painting the exterior of an unlisted dwellinghouse would not require planning permission, however, to `preserve` the character of the conservation area the council would discourage the use of non-traditional paint colours but would encourage the use of traditional paint colours, reflecting ‘earth’ type pigments.
