Urban Design Policy and Guidance
There are a variety of tools and guidance available to assist in the design of developments in order to ensure that the final design is of high quality. These tools and processes are most valuable and helpful during the early stages of planning applications to promote discussion and refine design options. Planning and Design guidance is set out through the National Planning Policy Framework and the Local Plans for the district, all of which can be found on the side of this page.
The National Planning Policy Framework states that high quality developments are fundamental to the aims for the planning and development process. For exact advice within this document, please refer to Section 12: Achieving Well-Design Places.
