Independent living with total peace of mind
As an Extra Care community, residents are likely to have an existing or potential care need enabling them to live independently whilst knowing a helping hand is just moments away. The new community will have a manager and 24 hour care team. All apartments have been designed to HAPPI* and Lifetime Homes standard with flexible accommodation that meets residents’ future needs without the need for significant adaptation. The apartments are light and spacious and will feature the latest in home energy conservation and quality fittings throughout.
To qualify to for one of these apartments, residents will preferably need to have an assessed care need at the time of moving in. Individual circumstances will be reviewed prior to any offer of accommodation being made. This will apply to all tenures. It is expected that the new community will be made up of residents requiring an equal mix of low, medium and high care needs.
Great location. Superb communal facilities
Located at the southern end of the City and near to local shops, health services and bus routes, residents will enjoy being close to Winchester life with so much on their doorstep. At home, communal facilities will include a restaurant, laundry, gardens, lounges and rooms for activities/hobbies or quiet time. In addition, there will be a day centre available to local people who are already supported by Hampshire County Council. Visitors will be able to park at the nearby Chesil Street multi storey car park.
A £15m housing development for Winchester
The development is being funded by Winchester City Council, Hampshire County Council and the Homes & Communities together with a generous bequest from former Winchester resident Harold Harris, latterly a resident in Hong Kong. Construction, which commenced in 2016, is being undertaken by Galliford Try with the new homes expected to be ready for occupation from February 2018
