Please complete the online application form. Your application must be submitted no less than three months before the day on which the gambling event will begin.

Copies of the application must be submitted to:

• The Gambling Commission
• The Police
• HMRC

If you submit your application online, the licensing authority will notify these authorities of your application on your behalf.

Once your application has been submitted to the authorities above, they will consider your application with regard to the licensing objectives. An authority may choose to give a notice of objection if they believe that the proposed activities will undermine one or more of the licensing objectives. Notices of objections must be sent to the applicant, and copied to the licensing authority, within 14 days of the authority being notified of the application.

If no objections are received, the licensing authority will endorse the notice as valid and return it to the application. This must be displayed prominently at the premises while the gambling is taking place.

In the event that a notice of objection is received, the licensing authority must hold a hearing to determine the outcome of the application. If it is determined that the TUN should not have effect, then it must issue a counter notice.

An appeal against the licensing authority’s decision may be made by the applicant, or any person entitled to receive a copy of the TUN, to the Magistrates’ court within 14 days of receiving notice of the authority’s decision.

The Gambling Act 2005 (Temporary Use Notices) Regulations 2007 sets out the restrictions on the type of gambling to be offered under a TUN. These restrictions are:

• it can only be used to offer gambling of a form authorised by the operator’s operating licence, and consideration should therefore be given as to whether the form of gambling being offered on the premises will be remote, non-remote, or both
• gambling under a TUN may only be made available on a maximum of 21 days in any 12 month period for any or all of a named set of premises
• it can only be used to permit the provision of facilities for equal chance gaming, and where the gaming in each tournament is intended to produce a single overall winner
• gaming machines may not be made available under a TUN.
