Changes to household bin collections

We’re lowering our carbon emissions and getting ready to recycle more. In October 2024, we made some changes to our waste and recycling collection routes.
After working closely with our waste collection partner, Biffa, to plan the future of our waste and recycling collections service, we made some improvements which came into effect from 7 October 2024.
Changes affecting some household's bin collection schedule were made, to increase recycling and reduce carbon emissions. A new bin calendar was distributed in September, along with a letter detailing any changes affecting each household.
You can also see details of your new collection schedule online at Find out your waste collection day.
Please remember to have your bin ready for collection from 6.30am on the day of collection.
The route changes will reduce the amount of miles our bin crews cover and therefore reduce carbon emissions.
We’ve also rolled out our first 100% electric waste and recycling vehicle! The electric vehicle will be in operation alongside the rest of our fleet, which has already reduced carbon emissions by over 90% by running on HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) instead of diesel.
We are offering a new service for all your bin collections, to help you remember when to put your bins out. You will get a reminder by email the evening before your bin collection is due.
You can sign up to receive the reminders at Bin Day Reminders.
