Free customer service training for bus and taxi drivers in Winchester
Winchester bus and taxi drivers are being offered a FREE day of training to help enhance customer service and satisfaction.
The one-day City and Guilds customer care training course, Welcome to Winchester, takes place on Wednesday 10 December at INTECH Science Centre and Planetarium. It has been specifically designed for bus and taxi drivers in the Winchester District.
Welcome to Winchester has been organised by Winchester City Council’s Tourist Information Centre (TIC) in conjunction with the regional tourism agency, Tourism South East. The course, which proved popular with taxi drivers when it was piloted in April, has now been extended to include bus drivers.
Transport providers are being invited to be ambassadors for the Winchester District by improving their knowledge of what it has to offer visitors. Participants can also benefit from a FREE family ticket to INTECH Science Centre and Planetarium.
Alison Woods, Winchester City Council’s Tourist Information Centre Manager said: “With free bus passes now being offered to all over 60s, a bus ride often provides visitors with their first impression of the beautiful Winchester District. Our bus and taxi drivers already provide an excellent service but this course will give them the opportunity to make it an outstanding service. At Winchester TIC we pride ourselves on providing excellent customer care, but we know that there is always something to learn.”

For further information on the course, call into Winchester Tourist Information Centre, located on the ground floor of Winchester Guildhall at the bottom end of the High Street.
