Friarsgate car park re-opens
The City Centre Friarsgate car park re-opened on 26 May.
The new-look car park will provide an ideal option for short-term parking to visitors and residents by restoring 72 parking spaces to the city centre. Four of these spaces will be for drivers with blue disabled badges and two will contain public electric charging points. There are three motorcycle spaces as well as one reserved for the City Car Club, which is due to be launched in June 2017.
Richard Hein, Winchester City Council’s Head of Parking said
The opening of this car park, will provide additional capacity at times of peak demand for events such as Hat Fair and the festive season, both of which support the local economy. The extra spaces will boost the Council’s existing car park stock. Friarsgate car park is expected to achieve both the Park Mark Safer Parking Award and achieve Disabled Motoring UK’s accreditation.
