Mayor of Winchester to read the Proclamation of the King

Following the announcement of the new Sovereign, His Majesty King Charles III’s proclamation at the Accession Council is due to take place at 10am Saturday 10 September at St James’s Palace in London. A local proclamation will be made at the Guildhall Winchester by the Mayor, Cllr Derek Green, at 2.30pm on Sunday 11 September.

The proclamation will begin with the arrival of Civic dignitaries at 2.30pm, followed by the reading of the proclamation by the Mayor from the steps of the Guildhall, concluded by the national anthem.

Flags will be flown at full mast from the time of the national proclamation and will return to half-mast on Sunday following the local proclamation. Flags will then be flown at half-mast until 8am on the day following the funeral.

Members of the public are welcome to join the Mayor at the Guildhall to mark the accession of the King.
