Recognition of enforcement excellence by council team
Winchester City Council has been shortlisted in the Royal Town Planning Institute South East (RTPI SE) Awards for Planning Excellence 2023.
The RTPI Awards, now in their 46th year, recognise and highlight the positive contribution planning professionals make in the communities they serve.
The Winchester City Council Planning Enforcement Team has been nominated in the People and Teams category of the regional awards, which will take place on 16 June in Guildhall Winchester. Regional winners will go forward to the national awards later in the year.
The council team’s nomination showcased their many achievements including: the reform of the team in the past few years to deliver an improved service; their prioritisation of the local environment; and their inspiration of aspiring young planners.
Winchester City Council’s Cabinet Member for Place and the Local Plan, Cllr Jackie Porter, said: “I am delighted to see the council’s Enforcement Team recognised for its development and improvement in challenging circumstances. Its members continue to build on their achievements to help protect our environment from the worst harm and planning breaches.
“This service is at the heart of community planning and a key component in the delivery of the climate change agenda as well as upholding what matters to local people. Thank you to all in our communities who take the time to get in touch; it improves our service and makes a real difference to our district.”
