Employment opportunities and advice on offer at Winchester jobs fair

New possibilities for employment and career development will be available at Winchester City Council’s next Jobs and Opportunities Fair.

The free fair, back by popular demand and run in partnership with Winchester Jobcentre, will take place at a new venue in Middle Brook Centre in Winchester on Wednesday 4 September 2024 from 10am to 1pm. The event is open to all and no advance booking is required.

A range of employers will be represented including Peter Symonds College, Sparsholt College, Hampshire Police, Winchester Prison, Holiday Inn and Brandon Trust. Alongside businesses with job opportunities, there will be organisations offering support such as Community First, the National Careers Service, Solent Mind, Winchester District Samaritans and Winchester Citizens Advice.

Stallholders also look forward to reaching out to those who have settled in the Winchester district. Training opportunities, CV advice and information and mental health support will also be on offer.

Winchester City Council’s Cabinet Member for Business and Culture Councillor Lucille Thompson said: “This fair is a great chance for local people who are thinking about changing jobs or those who are interested in entering the workplace to come and meet potential employers and discover the many opportunities that are available.

“There are few better places to work than in the Winchester district - it is home to a fantastic array of businesses, and we’re excited to play a part in matching them up with our residents.”

Middle Brook Centre can be easily reached by public transport and is walking distance from both Winchester bus and railway station. Those arriving by car are advised to use the Barfield or St Catherine’s Park & Ride. The closest Park & Ride bus stop to the venue is outside Marks & Spencer.

The National Careers Service is holding a Power Session in advance of the fair to prepare attendees. Bookable sessions are available on Friday 30 August from 10am to 11am in Winchester Job Centre Plus. To book, email Paula Bedford at pbedford@edt.org.

If you're part of an organisation would like to host a stall at the Winchester District Jobs and Opportunities Fair, register your interest by emailing Emily Reason: ereason@winchester.gov.uk.
