Freedom Parade Information 26 June

Please be aware that there are some rolling road closures in place today for the Freedom Parade.

In 2022, the city council awarded Freedom of Entry to the Defence School of Logistics & Administration (DSLA).

Today, the school, based at Worthy Down, will take part in a Freedom parade through the City Centre. This is an ancient privilege which allows the School to parade through the City "to the beat of drums, with swords drawn, bayonets fixed and colours flying". It comes from a period in our history when only trusted units would be allowed to carry arms within the city Boundaries.

There will be road closures in place on the Broadway and Colebrook Street between Market Lane and the Broadway, between 7am and 2pm.

There will also be rolling road closures in place from Peninsula barracks and the High Street between 10.45am and 11.15am.

Troops from the DSLA will step off from Peninsula Barracks at 11am, before arriving at the Broadway for inspection at 11.10am.
