Open Space Strategy
This Open Space Strategy is a 'background paper' to the adopted Local Plan Part 1 - Joint Core Strategy. It also supports the policies of Local Plan Part 2, particularly policy DM5 regarding the protection of important open areas.
It lists and maps important open areas in the towns and villages of the District, where Winchester City Council is the Local Planning Authority. Villages and parishes within the South Downs National Park area are not included.
The purpose of the Strategy and the accompanying policies in the Local Plan is to offer some protection to these sites, which can be subject to development pressure.
The Strategy also identifies specific needs and shortfalls of open space and indicates what further open space provision may be required in each area.
