Bar End Development
The Bar End Depot site
In 2022, two community events were held at Winchester Sport & Leisure Park, asking those living or working in the Highcliffe area to share their views on the future use(s) of the Bar End depot site.
In the Autumn of 2023, we held a public briefing session with the Council Leader and Ward Members to give feedback from the public engagement events and an update on the proposed timetable for marketing the site.
We are grateful to everyone who attended the briefing and provided feedback.
Marketing for formal bids has now been completed and a recommendation for a preferred bidder will be presented to Cabinet on 15 October 2024.
Bar End Regeneration
The Bar End Depot site forms part of the wider Bar End regeneration area.
There has been extensive previous engagement to develop a design framework for Bar End and these consultations led to a Community Plan and the adoption of the Bar End Framework.
As part of this framework a shared vision for the site was developed which allows for the provision of:
- An area for sport and recreation, leisure, wellbeing and enjoyment.
- High quality, highly valued and accessible facility for the community.
- Complementary uses and facilities such as hydrotherapy, treatment, and recovery alongside recreational, sporting and competitive activities.
