Worthy Road Pedestrian and Cycle Improvements
The City of Winchester draft Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP) identified and prioritised the B3047 Worthy Road between The Worthys and Abbotts Barton as a route that could be made more inclusive for all by making it safer and more attractive to travel along.
Construction of Phase 1 of the scheme along Worthy Road (Stoke Road and Dyson Drive) is scheduled to start October 2024 with completion anticipated in early 2025. Please see Hampshire County Council’s scheme webpage for further details including a plan of the works.
The improvement works include the widening of the footway to allow it to be used by pedestrians and cyclists, narrowing of the road, a new crossing close to Stoke Road, road resurfacing and a raised continuous footway across Dyson Drive.
To ensure the widened shared-use pedestrian / cycle path compiles with the Department for Transport standards a strip of land, totalling 5.2m2, running alongside a section of the existing footway on Dyson Drive will need to be dedicated to Hampshire County Council. The Notice and plan for the dedication can be found on the right-hand side of this page.
