The new pavilion at King George V playing fields at Bar End was completed in May 2024. The building houses 6 changing rooms on the ground floor and a community space with fitted kitchen on the second floor which can also be accessed by an accessible platform lift. Sustainable features include a green roof and solar panels.

As well as the sporting groups which will make use of the pavilion, it will also be available for community and private hire. The pavilion can be hired here

Some further improvements to the entrance are planned - repainting the gates and providing signage. A section of path from the Garrison Ground to the MUGA has recently been completed and tree planting has been undertaken close to the Green Waste site and within the play area. Chainlink fencing, no longer required, has been removed to open up the site and provide greater cohesion. A perimeter path was explored however following the new pitch layout there is insufficinet space to create a safe path for all users.

The play area was completed in May 2024 with the MUGA refurbishment completed over the summer. Some items were retained and refurbished with many new ones. Please visit the Play Areas, Skate Parks, Outdoor Gyms & MUGAs webpage for further information.

The skate park was completed in 2022 and has been open to all skateboard enthusiasts.  Thanks to all those who participated in the consultation and in bringing this facility to completion and especially to Susan Lord who worked for Winchester City Council and was instrumental in getting it built.  A memorial plaque is dedicated to her in the park.
