New Alresford
This area gives you access to various documents that are part of the evidence base for Local Plan Part 2 (LPP2), and which directly concern New Alresford. These include reports and studies produced by Winchester City Council or in collaboration with New Alresford Town Council and groups within it. The documents can be downloaded below.
The preparation of LPP2 follows on directly from Local Plan Part 1 (Joint Core Strategy) and includes new or revised development management policies and site-specific development allocations based on New Alresford’s needs. City Council officers have worked closely with the Town Council and a series of ‘Needs Groups’ in order to identify these needs and to produce the necessary evidence to justify the new policies and allocations.
As part of this collaborative approach, the Town and City Councils undertook an informal consultation between January and February 2014 with the local community on the proposed new development strategy. We have written a report summarising the responses to the consultation and this can be viewed in the attachments section below (please note that the report was updated on 25 June 2014). Appendix 2 of the report shows the display boards from the January exhibition. New Alresford Town Council consulted on an alternative development strategy in June/ July 2014.
The outcome of the various consultations, along with ongoing evidence studies, have informed the preparation of the Draft LPP2 document.
The draft LPP2 makes several proposals for New Alresford, including a proposed allocation of about 30 hectares of land to the east of Sun Lane for a mix of housing, open space and employment uses. The Council held an exhibition on the draft Local Plan on 7 November 2014 and invited the prospective developers of this site – Seaward Properties – to attend to show the work they are doing to develop a masterplan for discussion with residents. Seaward Properties displayed their material alongside the Local Plan public exhibition and are interested to receive comments and work with the community in moving forward with the site.
